Cannot edit board filter

Gordon Walker September 30, 2012

I am unable to edit the filters for my boards. I follow these steps:

  • From Agile - select "Manage Boards"
  • Hit the "Configure" link beside the board
  • Select the "Filter" tab
  • Hit "Edit filter" which takes me to the "Edit Current Filter" dialog in the Issue Navigator
  • Hit "Edit"

Here I can alter the JQL but I cannot "Save" the filter, I only have options to "Save as", "Rename or Share" and "Subscriptions".

How do I change the filter in use for this board?

Click Search, then you will see "Save".

The "search" link is the magnifying glass image directly to the right of the query edit text box.

Same. I don't see "Save" after "Search". Where this Save button is supposed to appear?

Same for me as well. Any luck??

Same here. I only see Save As if someone else created the board/filter. I can only "Save" filters for boards/filters I created.

How does one change the permissions.

I had the same problem. If the filter is owned by someone else, then you will not be able to modify it regardless of whether you are site admin or owner.

The only way is to change the ownership of the filter before you modify them. To change ownership, go to:

"Log in as Admin -> Settings -> System -> scroll down, on the left side choose Shared Filters or Shared Dashboards

there I was able to delete filters and change ownership." - courtesy, got this answer from another thread.

Hope this will save time for others.
