Can you remove a required field when creating a defect?

Matt OGrady September 19, 2013

When in Zephyr and creating a defect in JIRA it appears to have a number of required fields. One of these is the 'Component' field which we do not use in JIRA. Can we make it so it is not required?

Thanks

Hi Matt,

The actual answer depends on which Zephyr product you are using.

1. If you are using Zephyr for JIRA, then Prasad and Jannu are correct.

2. If you are using Zephyr Enterprise Edition or the Zephyr Community Edition, the answer is different. ZEE/ZCE independently require Component/Version/Assigned to per our own code. Send an email to support "at" getzephyr "dot" com and we can send you SQL instructions to adjust the backend so the Component field isn't required.

Kind Regards,

Chris

if you have admin permissions, create a new field configuration where you make Component/s as Optional. For which ever the issuetype you want, you assign in your field configuration scheme.
