When you refer to Customer Access I assume that you want to restrict access to your service desk rather than have it a public service desk. In which case it is possible to use Crowd as your user management tool in just the same way you would use if for access to JIRA. Just need to make sure you set the right groups for your customers to ensure they get the access you require.
