Can the Installation Directory be removed?

Is the installation directory temporary (ie. can/should it be removed after "Installation"?)

Or is this really JIRA's application directory?

If the latter, where is the recommended location on a linux file system for the "installation directory"?

Currently, I have /home/jira defined as JIRA_HOME.

I'd like to keep this install as close to what the Installer does as possible.

Thanks for your help.

Installation directory is not temporary, it is the application directory for JIRA. You can refer to the following for better understanding https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/JIRA+Installation+Directory
