Can i use the sender name of requester as username?

Jesper Møller Madsen June 9, 2022

Hi!

When a new user is creating a new request in a project, the users email address is used as both username and full name.

So when we send a receipt to the user goes like "Dear john@doe.com..." we would like it to go like "Dear John Doe...".

Almost all emails have a sender name attached to them - i know that other systems like Zendesk i able to do it.

Is there any way that i can use the "sender name" that the email already have?

Hi @Jesper Møller Madsen welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If you are the Admin for your site, you go to the Products tab.

Under Sites and Products, you select your site.

Next, under Jira Service Management click on Portal customers

Under the Actions column of your Customer, click on Edit full name

Hi @Dave Mathijs

Thanks for the quick reply! :-)

I am aware that i can manually go to the Portal customers and change the names by hand.

What i am looking for is a way to use the name attached to the email. I know for sure that alot of other system are able to do so.

It seems a bit to use the email as full name as standard. I would never be able to the variable without changing the name first.

Is it not possible for Jira to use the name attached to the mail when a request is created from an email?

let me know if it does not make sense.
