Can ServiceDesk and JIRA use same login?

I was wondering if we can combine JIRA and ServiceDesk login? The ServiceDesk users cannot login via the JIRA login form. Can we combine the two and re-direct users to the Portal based on their login?

Else is there a way to make the URL's for ServiceDesk more user friendly. eg. /servicedesk/customer/portal/1 could be an alias to the project name. Some configuration which can be setup once and works for all the ServiceDesks we may have in the future, would be good.

We ended up creating a separate domain for our customers and handed that out to them. When they reached the domain, we re-directed them to the service desk portal login.

We have JIRA software, and we are planing to procure JIRA service desk. I was wondering if same login credentials can be used to log into both Service desk and JIRA software
