Can JIRA smart search find issues that are not closed?

bmamlin June 27, 2012

I like being able to find open tickets for a project with a quick (smart) search like "PROJ open"; however, most of our ticket workflows quickly leave the "open" status and the query I need is something like "PROJ !closed". I've tried "PROJ !closed", "PROJ -closed", and "PROJ not closed" but none of these work.

Is there a way to smart search expression to find all tickets for project PROJ that have a status other than closed?

I think what you are doing is the best workaround ;) There is no other wt at the moment.

Another option is to filter by resolution: "PROJ unresolved".

This is a decent alternative until !closed is implemented. Thanks!

that would almost work for me but unfortunately it would rule out anything that's resolved but not yet closed.

FWIW, the "workaround" I'm doing for now is to search for "PROJ closed" to get the opposite of what I want and then adding a "!" in front of the equal sign in the query editor.
