Can JIRA be auto-cancelled if not raised via the portal?

Hello,

I am looking for a way for JIRA to be automatically cancelled and return a message if the JIRA portal was not used when creating the ticket. Is this something I can automate? Do I need any sort of admin perms?

Thank you

You would need to use an addon app for this. In Cloud we have Automation for Jira built in and I like the capabilities. If you have Scriptrunner, Power Scripts or similar you could use that.

However, let me ask if that is the right approach. Is your ultimate goal to not have folks use email to open issues? If so then you could just disable (not configure) the email channel. Maybe you have a different goal?

At the moment, some team members are using the 'create' button in the JIRA page (unfortunately not the email).
