Can I migrate users from Stash to JIRA?

izstas April 8, 2014

Hello,

Let's say I've got an instance of Stash with users and I would like to install JIRA. As far as I understand, Stash is able to use JIRA users, but not the other way. Would it be possible to migrate accounts from Stash to JIRA so users have single account shared between Stash and JIRA, without losing any user-relevant information in Stash?

Thank you!

You can not migrate your current userbase from Stash to JIRA, however, re-create the users on JIRA side using the same username as they have in Stash, and ensure the users on JIRA side have the correct group memberships to grant them access to Stash, and permissions within Stash.

Essentially when authenticating, first the JIRA user directory will get checked for the username and permissions. If the username is not present there, the Stash user directory will get checked. If the username is present in the JIRA user directory, authentication will proceed from there.
