If you are moving from JIRA Software to JIRA Core, you may not need to convert your projects from theSoftware project type to the Business project type. If JIRA Software is not installed or licensed on your JIRA instance, Software projects are functionally the same as Business projects. While they will show up as Software projects on the Browse Projects page, converting them to Business projects may not be necessary.
If you find you do need to change a large number of project types at once, you may find that it is faster to use the JIRA REST API to update the project type, rather than the JIRA administration user interface. You can update a project's type by calling PUT on the /rest/api/2/project/{projectIdOrKey}/typeresource and providing the desired project type key, as documented here.
