Can I block an issue type from being in the create pulldown?

We've decided that we want Stories and Epics but no Tasks in our workflows. I can put in a validator so that if you try create an issue after selecting "task" from the type pulldown you fail. But how do I prevent the pulldown from having "task" in it in the first place?

Go to the issue type scheme for your project, and remove "task" from it.  It will vanish from the drop-down and you can throw away your validators too.
