Can I Shared data between a Jira Cloud Installation and a Jira Server Installation to share data

Ben Deadman January 21, 2018

Need to protect company Intellectual property and private sensitive material on locally/company hosted server version of Jira

But would like the flexibility of access offered by cloud based solution for non-sensitive data - e.g. oversea office feedback, issue reports, etc not associated with research and development.

Can I export from the cloud Jira software back to the local installation easily?

Running two installations simultaneously - one cloud based Jira Installation and one locally hosted Jira installation.

Hi @Ben Deadman,

That sounds like a great use case for our synchronization add-on Backbone Issue Sync for JIRA.

If you install Backbone on both your JIRA instances, you can synchronize issue data between specific projects in those instances. You have full control on the scope of the synchronization, as Backbone allows you to define which issue types and which fields should be kept in sync and how they should be synchronized.

In your situation, you could configure your synchronization in a way that the relevant issue data in your cloud instance is automatically synchronized to your server instance whenever an issue is created or updated – meaning that there's no need for error-prone and time-consuming manual issue cloning.

Via the Atlassian Marketplace you can generate a free 30-day trial license which should give you enough time to check if Backbone might be a good fit here.

Feel free to reach out to us if you have any further questions or want to discuss your use case more in detail. We're here to help!

Cheers,
Tom.
