Can HTML emails be enabled per-project in Jira?

I'd like to be able to switch on HTML email notifications for a specific project in Jira.

Can this be done? How?

Notifications are a per-user preference, so unless you can't just switch over.

There is one hard coded issueEventListener that is responsible for triggering emails according to your project notification scheme. Atlassian do not currently allow you to disable that, so it will send a mail in whatever format a user has selected.

It could be done but it isn't trivial and involves JIRA source changes (to remove the hard coded listener). I did that for a proect called JDigest. You would likewise need to create a custom issue event listener based on the existing one, ignoring user preferences for your nominated project. My guess is that this is too much effort....
