Can Activity Stream be constrained to show events relative to today's date?

I am building a SCRUM dashboard for one of my teams, and would like for it to include a number of gadgets that show the activities of each developer over the past 24 hours. Activity Stream would be a great way to do this, except it doesn't seem to be able to filter that way. I tried setting a Global Filter "is after" with the date as "-1d" but all that does is rewrite the "-1d" to yesterday's date (which I assume will be static).

Is there a way to filter Activity Stream by "last 24 hours?"

What did you end up doing with this? I'm looking to do something similar. For now I have complex saved filters that attempt to find all issues a user has commented on, or updated in the last day, but they are tough to maintain.
