We are offering a clean and simple navigation experience with the new sidebar. With that in mind we evaluated all existing browse project tabs, looked at what functionality they offer, how customers are using them and what percentage of usage they get.
With the calendar tab we were seeing less than 1% of visits to the browse project page accessing that tab. Moreover usage drops off sharply several days after first visits. For most customers seeing a calendar view of issues in a project simply wasn't useful. They prefer to create custom calendar gadgets on their dashboard based on a more specific filter. It also didn't fit with the rest of the navigation model offered by the sidebar.
