Bulk summary rename automation for hierarhy of 3 levels

Vitalij Sinicyn October 1, 2024

Hello there,

We have issue types with Hierarhy of 3 levels

  • Theme-like
  • Initiative-like
  • And epics

We're using Deep Clone to create different instances of the same Theme tickets.

I am currently struggling with the creation of Automation meant to bulk rename epics within initiatives located within those epics.

Hi @Vitalij Sinicyn and welcome to the community!

If you want to make changes to your template while cloning, you can use the Field Editor feature of Deep Clone for Jira.

Let me know if this works for you.

Hi Vitalij - Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

What is the exact use case you are trying to solve? And can you share the rule that you have so far?

Hi  John,

For example, I have [the example is just to show]:

"Feature 1 -  Table " Theme-like item [Feature]

Initiatives-like items [Stage]

  • Feature 1 - Table [done]
  • Feature 1 - Table [Semi-done]

Inside those Initiatives I have epics

  • Feature 1 - Table Marble
  • Feature 1 - Table Wooden

and then I use deep clone to create more variations

so whenever I rename CLONE - Feature 1 to Feature 2 I want that summary change to be reflected in all epics and initiates.  I am at a crossroads and I am switching between different methods and it's not working except for part related to Initiatives. auto.jpg
