Best scheme for using Versioning

Tom Favell January 1, 2013

I'm new to Jira, and use a number of off-site developers. Jira enables us to create versions but this isnt suitable. we get new minor software versions to test everyday. Can anyone suggest a simple scheme we can use. I thought I could use the "Subverison" plugin (which is probably a lot more than I need) but this dosnt appear to be supported for the on-demand account.

Thanks

Versions of JIRA and Sub Version plugin are two different things. Versions are meant for marking JIRA issues with the project/product version, while sub-version plugin is for interfacing with SVN repositories.

Use a custom field to hold the sub-versions within the actual Fix Version. But remember, having this will limit your capablities to create release notes and usage of gadges that utilize fix version. Read more about versioning here - https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Managing+Versions

Thank you I will try a custom field.
