Backup Project in Atlassian

HB December 2, 2013

Hi,

We are using JIRA, Confluence, STASH, Bamboo, Zephyr. We have created one project and we are using that project among all the tools. Is there any one place from where we can take common backup or do we need to take backup from individual tools?

Thanks,

sorry man, I was being an ass. You asked a simple question that's difficult and time consuming to answer. Your options are widely varied based on the operating system, proximity and stability of the systems hosting those applications. And how much money and/or time you want to spend to set it up. If you came up with a framework I could give you my opinion on how supportable and sustainable it sounds, but coming up with that framework is something you'll have to do.

At a minimum you'll want to backup the database once a day, xml export the application around the same time and get those files along with all the other files making up the application off of the server and onto some type of redundant storage device. There are plenty of open-source/free tools out there to help you automate that (rsnapshot is my fav for linux boxes). If you are in windows land I've no idea, but start by pulling out your wallet.

Hopefully that was slightly more helpful.

No, you would need to take backups individuallly for each of the application. Even if all tools are installed on the same server, the data will be stored under installation directories for each of the tools.

Please go through these documents,

Hi HB. Solely on the JIRA part (if you're using Atlassian On-Demand JIRA), I have opened a Feature Request to automate running backups. At the moment it's only a request: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AOD-6929

If you like the idea, you could give it your support.

Atlassian pointed out to me a less secure but already possible way to automate JIRA backups, at https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/AOD-6498

Thanks Rahul & Chris.

Is there any way where we can automate this backup process (which includes all the tools) using some kind of scripts.

Thanks,

Hi HB,

The Zephyr for JIRA data will be contained in a full JIRA backup. We don't have a specific Zephyr for JIRA backup.

Kind Regards,

Chris
