Backlog nav menu item missing when viewing Kanban board

Chris Dunstall April 19, 2017

We have JIRA Server 7.1.6 and whenever we create a new Kanban board, the Backlog nav menu item is missing from the left hand navigation menu.

It is visible when viewing other areas of the project but for new kanban boards, it's not. I've tried updating the filter, there's no errors in the filter and even the Number 1 hotkey is not working.

I've just realised that Backlog not appearing for a Kanban board is by design, at least on JIRA Server - Cloud instances get Kanban Backlog by JIRA Software Labs.

It can be enabled as a Dark Feature in at least JIRA 7.2.7. We use it already.

Hi Steven,

Can I get a little more detail on how you enabled this?

What version are you on? I ended up disabling it because it was buggy in 7.2.7.

This Issue explains how to enable it but also notes that there's a bug if you leave it enabled during upgrade to 7.4.x.
