Attachments containging the letter Å are translated to the letter Ã

Leif Egil Hegdal November 22, 2012

We have upgraded JIRA from v 3.13 on a new server to v 5.2.

Attachments are working fine. However attachments that contain the letter Å, the letter is translated to the letter Ã. So then the attachment gets a 404 - Not found. I can find the attachment in the attachment folder on the server. How do we ensure that this translation do not occur ?

We are running on SUSE Linux 2.6.32.12-0.7-default #1 SMP 2010-05-20 11:14:20 +0200 x86_64 x86_64 x86_64 GNU/Linux, with MySQL v 5.0.67

Hi Leif.

I am currently working on your suppor ticket in https://Support.atlasssian.com.
This occur is because in JIRA 3, you are using different encoding which is Latin and when perform upgrade, the JIRA convert the Latin Encoding to UTF-8 as you can see in the attachment.

Šis actually Latin for à which is in UTF-8.

Do allow me some time to get the workaround for you.
Thanks for the patience and time.

Cheers

Hi Leif,

Please check the Character encoding is set to UTF8. This ticket might be related to the problem you are having.
