Atlassian Suite Orchestration

Ronnie November 24, 2015

We're using the full Atlassian Suite ( JIRA, Confluence, Bamboo, Bitbucket, HipChat etc.) at this moment we've got 100+ projects, 400+ repos, 100+ build plans, etc. etc. We're looking for a way to orchestrate the whole suite, so we can manage the configuration of projects, repos, buildplans, rights of users, branching models etc. etc.

It would be great if there was a way to 'kickstart' a project by defining team members and some basic information, after which a JIRA project, a Confluence space, Stash repository, Bamboo build plans, Crowd permissions and a HipChat channel would be automatically "provisioned" by an orchestration tool of some kind.

Is there any tool or solution to create a centralized way of managing all the different facets in the Atlassian Stack on a central way? Or are their any plans of making such kind of orchestration tool?

With JIRA 7 whenever you create a new project you can add aggregators to create all the rest of the stuff from there.

HipChat and Confluence already are hooked to that, and you can create a room mapping and a confluence space immediately.

It's a matter of adding more aggregators there.

There is Bob Swift's CLI tools, which allow you to create projects (and many other kinds of entities) remotely.

Functionality-wise, when you automate a task you have to arbitrate so that everyone can fit in the same configuration (projects X has no tester while project Y have 2 teams of testers, etc). If your projects don't need custom configuration, then one good configuration could be better than scripting.
