Are mail server encrypted in database?

We use Jira v4.4.1. We have some Jira projects that monitor an email mailbox using POP. When you setup the username/password in Jira, is the password encrypted when saved to the database? Is that documented anywhere?

Yes, passwords are encrypted and the methodology does change over time.

Thanks for the quick response. Is there anything in the documentation (User, admin, etc) that says passwords are encrypted?
