Application linking between Confluence and Jira fails on multiple levels

i.colonius March 11, 2015

Dear Support-community,

please excuse my opening yet another question for the application linking. I was unable to find my problem configuration in the other questions.

Situation

  • Confluence 5.7 and JIRA 6.3.15 running on two different hosts, SSL enabled.
  • Application link from Confluence to JIRA can be generated (Confluence finds the active JIRA server and starts the creating of the reciprocal link)
    • reciprocal Link fails with no answer was found from the confluence address.
    • also, ticket generation from confluence fails with Bildschirmfoto 2015-03-11 um 11.29.08.png

Summary

  • app link from confluence can be generated but is not working.
  • no linking from JIRA possible

Ideas

  • eventually I have a baseURL missmatch, but all combinations of addresses (http with redirect to https, https, https with port) did not change anything.
  • baseURL is set to https:URLADRESS
  • of course, its identical to the address seen in the browser and used of accessing both

Could you give me a little help to get me going in the right direction?

Thanks, Immo

Hi there,

The best way to get some additional visibility into what is happening during these types of failures is by leveraging the applinks diagnostics plugin. This will run several tests between the 2 applications and spit out a diagnostic that should give us something to go on. Here's a link to this add-on.

Essentially you'll want to install it on both JIRA, and Confluence, and then run the test. I believe you will need to download and manually upload the jar file to install it on the Confluence side.

Thanks for the hint, regrettable its not yet compatible to confluence 5.7.

I did install it with our JIRA instance, but as I'm unable to generate the app link from JIRA towards Confluence, I find no diagnosable links there .

But I'm open for similar suggestions!
