Application link to older version of jira

Matt Shelton November 21, 2013

We have two instances of JIRA, one running 5.1.4 (http://jira-old.company.com:8080) and another running 6.1.3 (https://jira-new.companyurl.com). There are no connectivity issues that I can find as they properly identify the other as a JIRA host.

I have not been able to configure any sort of reciprocity between the two applications using application links. When doing so from either version, they error trying to create the remote side of the link due to the 5.1.4 install having an old version of the app link plugin. (I can create the local side without issue.)

However, now that I have each local side configured, I am unable to define authentication for either. When I open the Edit Application Link screen and choose either Authentication type, for either Trusted Applications or OAuth, the spinny spins, but never shows any output. Nothing is logged indicating a timeout or connectivity problem. Is there anything I can do to troubleshoot this (or better yet, make it work)?

If I recall corretly, due to new applink design the reciprocal link would establish when you do it from the older JIRA side. As for the blank authentication page, try to double check the logs if any error is written in there which might help others to identify the problem.
