Application link creation failed on local Bamboo (Evaluation version) to JIRA onDemand

Chun Ko July 17, 2014

Hi, I am having trouble to setup the Application link between our local install Bamboo to JIRA onDemand service.

When I tried to "Create new Link" from "Configure Application Link" page on Bamboo server, it pop up the dialog box indicate which application I linked to, then I pressed "Continue" with "I am an administrator on both instance" unchecked. Then a progress circle is continue rotating and in the background appear a red box with OK.

I use firebug to see what happen behind the since, it indicated that "Application link creation failed" on the PUT request.

Therefore, is there anyway to find out what happen from the Log file, or my Evaluation of Bamboo cannot connect to JIRA onDemand service?

Thanks in advance,

Chun

Hi Chun,

Here's the simple guide on performing this setup: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/BAMKB/Linking+JIRA+OnDemand+with+self-hosted+Bamboo

The important takeaway is that Bamboo must be publicly accessible on 443 or 80 in order for JIRA to reach out to it. Please also make sure that there are no local firewalls/proxies/etc blocking connection to your local server from Bamboo server.

If this does not help please visit support.atlassian.comand create a support request there. Please attach a Bamboo Support Zip (Bamboo Administration >> System >> Atlassian Support Tools >> Support Zip >> Create) to this issue for our inspection.

Thanks!

Thanks Turner,

I finally got it "linked" (not fully and hit another problem).

Anyway, that is what I have to got it partially "linked" but not functional

System Configuration: (Example Only)

Jira OnDemand url https://mycompany.atlassian.net/secure/Dashboard.jspa

Bamboo External url https://external.a.com/bamboo

Bamboo Internal url http://internal.a.local:8085/bamboo

I create a application link start from Internal url http://internal.a.local:8085/bamboothen create application links using https://mycompany.atlassian.net/secure/Dashboard.jspa

Bamboo can recognize both service and provide me an other link for me to place on the browser to link the JIRA onDemand service.

And it "looks" like the links is created on both server without problem. However, JIRA onDemand was still complaint about can't connect to the system.

And I did try to create a link from https://external.a.com/bamboobut I could not get as far as if I create a link from http://internal.a.local:8085/bamboo

Anyway, as I said, I got the "link" appear on both server but cannot communicate properly. Then I decided to delete both link and try again. However, now I cannot delete the link on my Bamboo server, it keeps saying that the OAuth was not valid, and the "Delete" button has no response.

I guess I have to rebuild the server again if neccessary. or if you do know any quick way to delete the "application link" without reinstall the server that would be great.

Also can you confirm that the way I create the application link from the internal url whatever is acceptable too?

Thanks alot
