Application as an asset - how to record information

Dom Cotton October 31, 2017

Hi,

I have lots of small utility applications that are installed on various servers in my organisation.  I want to be able to enter the details of each application into Jira so that any service desk items can be related to them.  Also assets (where each app is installed) can be linked also.

I don't know how best to enter these into Jira can anybody make any suggestions?  Ideally i need some basic information like Application ID, Owner, details, etc.

Thanks,

Dom

Sounds like you are going to create some Inventory Management System based on JIRA, but it is not a good idea.
Confluence is the much more interesting platform for storing information about inventory, relations between inventory items, some changes and so on.
And you are always able to link JIRA tickets with Confluence pages.
