Adding Jira Users to HipChat

Deleted user August 14, 2015

I am configuring HipChat for the first time and want to simply add existing JIRA users to HipChat.  However I only see that I can send in invitation.  What I am expecting is that I can select existing users from JIRA to add.   I have the JIRA integration to HipChat in place.   What am I missing?

@Frederic Champlain, you should be able to invite users from the global integration screen (see the screenshot in the top right):

It allows you to pick existing JIRA users and invite them to join HipChat: https://confluence.atlassian.com/display/JIRA/Configuring+JIRA+with+HipChat#ConfiguringJIRAwithHipChat-Inviteusers

We show this option only to people who have free HipChat group (because every added HipChat user will cost extra money and JIRA admin might not realise it when inviting new people). But even payed HipChat groups can access this feature directly: https://<YOUR JIRA URL>/plugins/servlet/hipchat/invite.

Hi Frederic,

I was talking with a few engineers from Hipchat and I could confirm that you need to send the invitation, you can't select the users there to have in Hipchat because you're running on the Cloud your JIRA.

Cheers,
WZ
