Add a person as a watcher on the issue when they create a pull request

We have issues that are worked on by many members of a team. Usually the person that creates the ticket is the only one added as a watcher unless they explicitly add more. We would like to set it up so that if "Mike" creates a ticket and begins working on code, then "Becky" checks out that same branch and commits/merges code there as well, that she will then be automatically added as a watcher on that ticket.

I am unaware of how to do this natively. I tried a couple ways within my own instance and have not had much luck. 

I did find this previous question that someone gave a good answer to.
