Activity stream - How to make proper transition messages

Alexander Schüßler July 16, 2017

Hi there,

in my company we are using JIRA and I like the tool a lot, so I decided to buy my own 10$ license for a tiny private project. I am now setting up JIRA with my company's setup as example.

There's one little thing I can't get working the same as it is in my company.

In the activity stream of my company's JIRA when an issue is assigned, solved, reopened or closed the activity stream says User a opened issue / resolved issue / reopened / closed issue as seen in screenshot 1.

In my JIRA, though I also created workflows and added event handlers like "Issue Closed" and transitions similar to my company's one the activity stream always says "User changed status to...". (See screenshot 2)

I can't get it making the same so that there are specific entries for opening, closing etc instead of just a general message.

I tried many hours now and googled a lot but with no success.

Can anybody help??

Thank you very much.

Hi Alexander,

In this situation there could be a couple things going on.  I have not seen a change to the Activity Stream's messaging since 6.4.x so in light of that:

  1. Check your company instance to ensure they're not using an Activity Stream add-on such as Activity for JIRA
  2. Ensure there were no customizations to the company JIRA's activity stream

Finally, JIRA's activity stream gadget shows streams from other applications JIRA is linked to via Application Links.  I would verify whether there are other applications using the activity stream and deselect all of the ones except JIRA and see if you get different results.

Cheers,

Branden

Dear Branden,

Thank you.
I will check it. We have 6.x in our company, however upgrade to 7.x is scheduled for next two weeks.

I yet tried some activity stream plugins but I think it was not related. I will doublecheck and let you know when I have more questions.
