A project in JIRA has only few fields. Why do we not have CUSTOMER NAME as one of the fields. I added some custom fields using HTML but is there a better alternative?

Custom fields are supported only for issues in JIRA. For project you will have to develop some plugins or use the existing plugins like metadata plugin.

Hello Shampa; We developed a plugin to meet this requirement. Profields can achieve what you want and many other needs. With Profields 2.0 now it's also possible to execute JQL queries using the attributes created with the plugin. Although the JQL box works only with issues, you can combine the filter with some gadgets of JIRA.
