changing issue status automatically

Hi, 

i am using Automated worklog, when user change the status of an issue to in progress ,time is calculated automaticlaly. and at a time user can work on only one issue. 
now the issue is when user will change the status to in progress for another issue the previous issue status will be autimatically chnage to hold . and time will calculate for new issue . how i can do this . can any body guide me ?
