What field can we use to define a body of work; not a Release

I hope I can make my question clear to see what others might be doing.

We have multiple releases that are on-going during a specific timeframe (think Q1, Q2, etc).  We are new to using JIRA and trying to brainstorm how to look at the progress of the Epics within the multiple releases for a particular quarter.

If we used the field of Components and named it accordingly (Q1, Q2, etc), I THINK this could be a way of grouping the Epics, but I wanted to see if there was something else that might work better.
