Reporting and filtering criteria

Hi- Looking at the dashboards and reports that are in Jira I cant seem to create any filtering criteria.  For example trying to filter out number of tickets created and resolved for a sprint, ie. January 2023.  Even when I look at the burndown dashboard I cannot filter out items included in the January Sprint, it includes items removed from sprint.  How can I get a true look at items created and resolved for a specific time frame and look back at items for sprints?
