R&D ideas - where do I store them?

I have request to establish an area within JIRA where research and development ideas could be analyzed without impacting current projects and boards.  My first thought was to create a separate JIRA Project and use it specifically for this purpose and then use the MOVE function to transition it to a JIRA board where the idea could be developed.  Are there any specific tools available for this type of R&D activity that would easily port to JIRA?  Thanks.

Hi @Thayne Munson

Yes you can try Confluence which is ideal for storing ideas.

  • You can create a space in Confluence
  • Create pages within that space
  • Pages can have templates as well
  • People can then brainstorm on those ideas
  • They can comment on pages
  • Pages can be linked to issues in Jira, for example when idea is ready for PoC or implementation then link that page to an Epic
  • Confluence page will always show up to date status of the linked issue

I hope it helps.
