Possible to cancel requests using AP.request in connect javascript API

Our use case for this would be that while it's still requesting and the user decides to click on different item to load it's details, we can just cancel it and proceed with the latest item clicked.

Maybe the same cancellation as in axios library? you can check it here https://github.com/axios/axios#cancellation.
This would be a great help to improve user experience so hope anyone can clarify/confirm this one.
