Hello,
I have few questions about the jira software and the server version of it.
Does a company chooses a port that is gonna be connected to it?
We download the jira program in our server but then how do we secure non-leaking handing of information if the whole contro is happenning through a weblink/webpage?
Thank you in advance for your time.
Best.
Indeed , This is the meaning of server version vs Cloud.
The server version runs in your servers (locally) .
Cloud version runs in Atlassian Servers ;)
Antonio
Yes, I understand that.
1/And it then does it run as a 'program' from my colleagues computers?
2/Also, why do I need to select an http and Cotrol port when i try to test-install it?
3/Or is it the wrong product I am trying to install?

Hey,
1/And it then does it run as a 'program' from my colleagues computers?
No, It will run in the web browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari ... or another one)
2/Also, why do I need to select an http and Cotrol port when i try to test-install it?
The server version runs under http or https protocol (web server) , On the setup you will need to select the port (i.e : 80 or 8080)
3/Or is it the wrong product I am trying to install?
Jira is a great product , runs in cloud or locally in you server but always via web browser , Android / IOS
...but if you are looking for a tool that runs as standalone app for each user in their computer .. then this is not the tool. :(
Hope this helps you
Antonio
Thank you @Antonio Ferruz , this helps.
I need to check now your first comment about safety and ports:)
Maria
Hi @Maria Karani ,
if you control the server and users machines, you can secure the transmission using https protocol. If you disable http, then you should be safe even if you do not fully control your network.
