Jira - Bidirectional Slack Integration

Hello!

We are working on integration between Jira and Slack. We want to receive messages when a new alert is created and later update it when the status or assigned changes.

We already configured the Slack Integration, but not working as we expected.

Everything that we change from Slack update the creation message, but If we change something on the Jira Ticket the creation message is not updated.
The information in Slack is not valid in this case. The same happens with the thread, we don't receive the updates when changes are done in Jira.

For example, we receive this ticket:

We transition the ticket with the "Transition" Button > ACK Status

Everything works as expected! But....

If we do the same action from Jira, for example, moving to close the status:

it is not updated on Slack:

Neither the status nor the thread.

It's possible to use this integration in a bidirectional way? We need to integrate into our workflow.

Hi @Alberto Crego Matas

Welcome to Community!

It seems like you only set the interaction up to send notifications when an issue is created. You can make it send notifications when the issue is updated. To do this, type /jira in the channel. That will show you the list of connected projects. From there, you can click on the Manage button and change settings.

Make sure to click the Save button after you change your connection.

This is another limitation, we already configured this:

2 integrations per channel:

  • one manages the full message and only is triggered once the source opens the alert.
  • the other one manages the ACK and Close events to avoid long messages on Slack Channel
