JIRA migration and upgrade within the major Software versions

Jahubar Musthafa April 10, 2018

Hello there,

We are planning to perform an XML migration from JIRA Software version from P1 V.7.3.3 to P2 V.7.8.0 (within the major versions).

Can we load the P1 XML directly in to P2 environment? where there is a mismatch in software versions.

Thanks

It depends on your "migration".

If you are migrating the whole system to a new empty Jira, then you can try this route, as Jira will attempt to upgrade the data.  But I would strongly recommend you use the supported upgrade method - take your 7.3.3 and upgrade it to 7.8 as per upgrade documentation.

If it's a partial migration (you want to move a project from the 7.3 Jira to the 7.8), then no.  You need to upgrade the 7.3 to 7.8 then do the export.
