Get all statuses for project API returning unmapped issue type status

I am using the below API to get valid statuses of issue types for a project
GET /rest/api/2/project/{projectIdOrKey}/statuses

It is returning statuses of the 'EPIC' issue type even though it is not mapped to that project.

using below API to get details of the required projects

GET /rest/api/2/issue/createmeta. (This API response does not have EPIC listed)

Please help
