Hello Everyone,
Does JIRA really locks itself while performing a project Import? I have recently tried performing Project Import using Jira's native Project Import tool and didnt notice any lock out during import as Atlassian document suggests.
If JIRA locks, how does User gets notified?
Would be interesting to hear your experiences.

Hello Nic,
I recently tried project import and noticed that JIRA does not either lock or give any message as such. I could login and create issues as normal user. Thats why I am bit confused since the documentation suggests that Jira will be locked.
It only locks for part of the import process, you probably missed it! Last time I loaded 2,000 issues, the lock was spotted by one user and went away inside a couple of seconds.
Hi Nic,
I am not sure which version of JIRA you tried with, probably older one. Atlassian has just acknowledged that JIRA actually doesn't lock itself during project import and they have created a feature request for the same. Check here, https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-66724
Jira 7.1
Strange, I am also trying on 7.1.4, seems like a bit uncertain behaviour. Lets see what Atlassian Development team comes back with.
