Deleted board that was not showing issues from backlog and lost all issues in backlog

Ted Penner April 23, 2022

I mistakingly deleted a "board" that was not showing any "issues" that were showing in my backlog. Now I don't see any issues in my backlog. Is there any way to get them back?

So first up, do not worry, your issues are safe.

Deleting a board does not affect the issues that it was looking at.

A board and a backlog are actually two sides of the same coin.  Both of them select the same list of issues and then let you view and work with them.  They are different views and enable different functions.

However, the backlog functions have been extended out into being project functions as well - in a project with no boards, you still have a backlog in some places.

So, the simple answer - try adding a new board to the project.  To keep it simple, use the "create board from project" option.  You can always reconfigure it later.

That should repopulate your backlog views.

Create a board with what name?

This is what I have done.

I just want my backlog back with everything in it.

It doesn't matter what the name is.  You just create a new board from the filter that represents everything you want to work on (or the project, in which case, it'll create a filter that just says "project = xyz") and make sure all the status are mapped into the columns.

Your link doesn't work for me, I don't know what you have been doing.

The back and forth is impossible for me.

Would it be possible to get some assistance in real-time with screen sharing?

ISSUE UPDATE (still unresolved after 4 days of down-time) :

Earl McCutcheon jirastudio-support-system@atlassian.com
Addie advocates@atlassian.com

Jira Issue Title (unchanged since it was opened on Sat 4-23-2022)
"Backlog no longer available"

My backlog should show here:
https://tptxdev.atlassian.net/jira/software/projects/TP/boards/1/backlog
It has largely been deleted and is unfortunately not even able to be recreated. What am I missing?

Here is the history.
I was trying to get my head around how "boards" worked in Jira since none of them were showing my backlog of 50 or so issues that had not yet been completed. I had about that same number of issues that had been completed. When I deleted one of the boards that was empty, my backlog of 50+ issues completely vanished. I need someone that can help me recover them if possible. I think we will have to have a conversation with audio and screen-sharing in order to accomplish this which we can do in Microsoft Teams fairly easily through this link https://teams.live.com/l/invite/FBApuTlArQHTiaP1x8.

This screencast shows what happens when I try to re-create a new issue https://www.screencast.com/t/TkevJ3To2
