Database fail-over for JIRA

Atlassian JIRA has fail-over solution for application perspective. But there is no database fail over solution for products and we are looking for a solution specially for oracle. However oracle RAC solution is much costly which is provided db redundancy. 

What you guys are think about db fail-over for JIRA? Share your thoughts.

Generally, Atlassian tools are divorced from the database, and don't care what you do for failover of the database side.

So, this isn't really an Atlassian question.  I tend to stick to what-ever the people running the database recommend, which is generally the tools that come with the database unless they've decided on different solutions.

But when discuss about high-availability, it requires to have high-availability of database as well. without having db high-availability, application high availability is not feasible. Isn't it?

Correct, but all you need to think about from the (Atlassian) application point of view is "is my database useable?".

It is utterly irrelevant to the application how the database fails over, replicates or whatever.  It just needs to be there and be usable.
