Comparison Cloud vs Datacenter: User experience, maturity, ...

Hi,

Our customer has got 2 Atlassian environments: a 7 year old environment in Cloud (self-managed, messy) and a 1 year old environment in Datacenter (managed by us, an Atlassian partner).

The goal is to migrate 1 of the environments to the other to end up with only 1 environment.

Security is very important for this customer, so it is not an easy decision to take, by just moving everything to cloud.

We have been asked to make a very thorough analysis and comparison.

Some of the points to compare could be called subjective, and for that reason I would like to ask for your input, as we cannot find clear information and numbers about those online.

Points to compare are:

  • Learning curve for new users
  • User experience (user)
  • User experience (admin)
  • "Customizability" to improve the user experience
  • Maturity
  • Atlassian vision regarding feature roadmap: Which aspects are being/will be prioritized?
  • ...

We have to do the comparison for Jira, Confluence and Bitbucket.

Thank you in advance for your very appreciated input!
