Comment field freezes with special character (smiley)

Copy-paste from mail including smiley mark 😊 causes newer ending loop for Adding comment.

Modify old comment with same smiley gives error :

"Jira responded with

Error 5xx

Looks like we're having some temporary server issues.

Please wait a minute, then retry your request.

If you think something is broken, report a problem to..."

Is it common Jira issue or just in our configuration ?

JRASERVER-59741 should be fixed in 7.1.0 and this problem is seen in JIRA Software 7.8.4

All right, maybe this (if you have a MySQL database), even if the error message is a bit different:

https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-43854?jql=project%20%3D%20JRASERVER%20AND%20text%20~%20%22comment%20utf-8%22

My guess is that it is a problem with UTF-8.

Can you please check your log-files, if there is any more information included.

MySQL in use, so could be UTF-8 case:

SQL Exception while executing the following:INSERT INTO jiraaction (ID, issueid, AUTHOR, actiontype, actionlevel, rolelevel, actionbody, CREATED, UPDATEAUTHOR, UPDATED, actionnum) VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?, ?) (Incorrect string value: '\xF0\x9F\x98\x8A N...' for column 'actionbody' at row 1))

Maybe the workaround here will help you then: https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JRASERVER-36135 otherwise you will probably have to wait until this is fixed.

Thanks Bastian about quick reply. Team will investigate will we wait or do workaround.
