Boards in business project type

Hi guys, 
My marketing team wants to a separate project with the ability to visualize their work on on a kanban board.
Can I create a business type project, or do I have to use jira software? Is it possible to connect boards to the business project type?

You can create a second board with Jira Software that can be used against your Jira Work Management project. Here is an article to help you with that.

Hey there, For your marketing team's project, you can create a business project in Jira, but it won't have built-in kanban board functionality like Jira Software. However, you can still visualize work using task lists and other tools within the business project. If you need a kanban board, it's recommended to use Jira Software where you can easily connect boards to your business project for seamless management.

Note that Jira Work Management projects do have their own kanban-ish Board feature built in.

The functionality is not the same as the Kanban board available with Software projects.

Whether or not you marketing team should use a JWM or JSW project depends on their needs. Many people find that the JWM projects are more intuitive and easier to use for non-technical/non-developer types of users. Each type of project and board has its own limitations.

Kanban projects in Jira Software projects, especially company-managed give you more options with the customization (quick filters, swimlanes, card colours, workflows,etc.).
