trigger an email from automation for non-seated

Jason Chayer February 20, 2024

Is it possible to send an email to someone that does not have a Jira seat/license?

What I am trying to accomplish is having this email sent when a certain type of task is created. However, this person does not have a Jira seat.

Ideally, I would like to do this natively, but if there is a free app, I am open to that as well.

We use Cloud.

Hi @Jason Chayer

Yes, that is possible.

The Send Email action in automation rules supports any email addresses, from the issue fields or typed in values.

Kind regards,
Bill

Thanks @Bill Sheboy - I will give this a try.

@Bill Sheboy - in setting up this automation rule, what do I need to do to have the task that was created included in the outgoing email?

That depends upon your rule structure and the source of the task data.  For a single issue in the rule, it could be the smart values in {{issue}} or {{triggerIssue}}

Please post an image of your complete rule; that will provide context to help suggest some specifics.  Thanks!

@Bill Sheboy - I was able to figure this out. The link you posted I found as well, which is what I needed.

Thanks for reaching back out.
