time estimate for a specialist

Our specialists work on various projects. I need to automatically calculate the time estimate for a specialist on various projects. Is there a way to do this?

• How will you define the specialist?
• what do you mean by "automatically calculate"? Do you mean start a timer and stop a timer or do you really mean calculate? If calculate then what is the equation for this?

you may be able to use Automation to achieve your goal but I cannot say for sure without more details.

I will describe the process to you
We have a specialist who carries out the task from start to finish, and we have a separate field "responsible specialist" for him. He enters a time estimate (for example, 8 hours) and he has several such tasks in different projects. I want to get all his total score (sum of all time estimates) using Jira instead of counting manually. If there are any other questions, I will be happy to answer them. Thanks for the help.

So OOTB there isn't an easy way to achieve. Here are a couple of thoughts.

• Consider using an epic and have all the independent tasks associated to that epic. Then use automation to some of the estimates as they are added or updated. You would use a custom fields in the epic to hold the summation. Now admittedly this gets very messy if you consider updates. It is one thing simply add a number to another Number but if one of those numbers changes it makes it more difficult to reconcile the Delta. Is it doable, yes, but messy.
• Consider an add-on within the marketplace. There are a number of add-ons that allow you to present the total estimation.
