Hello, it will be feasible to send automated test results to an issue type in Jira without using Xray or other plugins Unfortunately we only have a budget for Jira and we handle automated tests with cucumber and selenium that we would like to link via API to JIRA. Thanks!

Hi @Sonda LiderBci  -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

If your external tools have a REST API and you are able to set up a webhook to listen for, you could use Automation for Jira (A4J) which is included in Jira Cloud.

Please look at these sources for information:

Best regards,

Bill

Hello, thank you very much for the answer, but this method is still through plugins, which are paid.

The premise is not to use plugins to integrate the test results to an incident in Jira.

Are you using Jira Server or Jira Cloud?

  • Automation for Jira is included free in Jira Cloud
  • If you are instead using Server, there is a free Lite version of Automation for Jira.  Only the Pro version has a monthly charge.

We are using the Jira Cloud with Xray, but we no longer have the budget to maintain test management in Xray, so we are looking for a way to integrate automated test execution results to an issue type in Jira.
Xray has an API that allows this integration:
https://xray.cloud.xpand-it.com/api/v1/authenticate
https://xray.cloud.xpand-it.com/api/v1/import/execution/cucumber

The query given the context, is if Jira will have a similar API?

Best regards,

Sebastián.

Hi, and thanks for clarifying.  You noted in your original question "...we handle automated tests with cucumber and selenium that we would like to link via API to JIRA"

Automation for Jira can call REST API methods and respond to webhooks from other tools.  I suggest you investigate the capabilities of the tools you note (cucumber and selenium) to see what API access they have, and that may be the answer to the questions you are asking.  Essentially: if those tools have APIs you can probably use them with Jira automation rules.
