is there a way to have more than one issue type behave as an Epic

I'd like to have more than one issue type behave as an epic (show up in the epic tab in plan mode, enable adding issues in epic underneath it).

Is there a way to do it? Applying the Epic-specific fields (color, link, name, etc.) to the new issue type did not seem to have done the trick.

Sadly, it appears this is not an option

We have created a separate project for EPICs, using the default issue type of Epic. We use components to distinguish which area of the business the epic impacts. Then, in our projects with the user stories, we create the Scrum board with a filter which then includes the relevant epics. This causes JIRA to display the Epics in our scrum boards and allows to separately manage a single portfolio of epics. This may get you closer to the answer you seek.

I am afraid that's not possible. Atleast not with the current version of JIRA Agile.
