how to delete accidently added sprint from a board of other project & keepin expected board as isoa

Sushant Gote June 17, 2021

Accidently a sprint is added in two different boards of two projects- one expected and another un-expected.

Sprint is closed.

Now, if Sprint is deleted from unexpected board will it be deleted from EXPETCTED BOARD Also? How to keep it on EXPECTED BOARD and Delete from UNEXPECTED Board only?

Hi Sushant,

This is a very common situation to see.  Please check out this KB for more info: https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/the-same-sprint-is-displayed-across-different-scrum-boards-after-moving-an-issue-779159176.html

Most likely this is the same sprint, and someone has moved an issue from one project into another project.  That can then permit that sprint to appear on the destination board/project.  If you do not want that sprint to appear on that board, then you need to determine exactly which issue(s) are making it appear there.  One way to do this is to search JQL for that issue, such as

project=BBB and sprint="Sprint name or ID"

Where BBB is the project key of the destination project where you don't want to see this issue.

You can then either move the issue back to the source project, OR edit the sprint field on that project to remove the issue from that sprint. Either way can be used here.  However you would have to remove all such issues from this project BBB if you do not want that sprint to appear on that board.

Note: Sprints will always appear on the board they are created on, OR if the sprint contains at least 1 issue that would appear on that board.  These Agile board determine what issues appear on them based on the saved filter configured for that board.

I hope that helps,

Andy

Hello @Sushant Gote

Welcome to the community.

Are they actually the same Sprint, or do you have two different sprints with the same name? To find out use the Search Issue screen to search for issues in that sprint. As you type in the name of the sprint you should get a list of potentially matching Sprint names. That will show you if there are two sprints with the same name or just one sprint showing in two boards.

If it is just one sprint, then deleting the sprint in either board will remove it from both boards. But also, in the case of one sprint on two boards, the sprint is appearing in the two boards because it contains issues that are within the scope of the board filter for both boards. To "remove" the sprint from the unexpected board in that case, you need to remove from the sprint the issues that belong to that board.

If you delete a sprint, it is deleted.  Sprints are not contained by boards, the boards show them if they are selected by the board configuration.
